Mrs Joy Idara Vincent is a seasoned and passionate Early Years Educator dedicated to delivering high-quality early childhood education that nurtures the whole child. As the Head of Early Years, she leads with vision, creativity, and compassion ensuring that every child experiences a joyful, meaningful, and purposeful start to learning.

Rather like the city itself, the GAA has grown rapidly since it was established some eight years ago by owners who are passionate about providing the very best educational opportunities for the host and expat communities in the Nigerian capital. The school roll numbers over 300 boys and girls aged 1+ to 7 years old. There is a long waiting list for many classes.

The school is Abuja’s foremost British Curriculum international school with a strong academic base and excellent facilities. We aspire to become the best international Early years school in Nigeria and rank amongst the top international schools worldwide.

The school was graded at least Good in all areas, with a significant number of the standards being met at an Outstanding level. We are an ambitious school and my team and I firmly believe that there is no limit to the potential of our students.

We provide outstanding opportunities that develop every aspect of our students’ interests and abilities. We aim to develop a lifelong love of learning and to encourage every child to discover and nurture their passions. We ensure that they are fully prepared for the next stage of their education. Our close relationship with our sister school, GAA has enabled us to develop an excellent transition program enabling students to make a seamless and highly successful move to primary school.

Our exciting and engaging curriculum is based on the latest version of the UK National Curriculum 2014. We use the highly regarded UK Early Years Foundation Stage strategy to ensure the youngest children develop their full potential and the full UK National Curriculum from Year 1. Our pupils are regularly assessed against the requirements of this rigorous academic program to ensure that they are on track.

Alongside our academic program we have a well-developed extra-curricular program of sports, science, music and art. Our school is renowned for its musical and dramatic productions, which are often the talk of the town! Our swimming squads regularly return from galas laden with medals. We insist on commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Whilst we are proud of our rigorous British academic foundations, we are also proud to be based here in Nigeria with its wealth of culture and tradition. We take every opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge our Nigerian roots. Our children say that they are proud of our school and that they love coming in every day. They are keen and willing learners, well behaved and focused on achieving great things here.

Our parents tell us that they enjoy the warm welcome they get here, the positive and collaborative relationship they have with the staff and the fact that the school has a real sense of community.

They say it really feels as if they are part of ‘The GAA family’. We are very proud of this relationship as we know that together we can ensure a fantastic future for the children here.

Websites really only offer a glimpse of life but we hope that it will be sufficient to encourage you to come and visit us.
I look forward to meeting you soon.

The Early Years remain the foundation of our school, and it is from here that the journey of every child begins. We take this responsibility very seriously, as the strength and quality of what we build here determine how confident, capable, and curious our children become as life long learners.
